Richard Sacks, MD, born in Brooklyn, NY, now calls New Jersey and Florida his home. He has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon in Toms River, NJ for over forty three years. Dr. Sacks enjoys travel, golf, writing and most importantly family time. He has been married to Roni for fifty two years. They have two sons, Jonathan and Eric, their daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
His premier novel, Ijeoma: A Mother’s Journey To Save Her Daughters, was inspired by actual events. His compelling tale profiles a young Nigerian girl who vows to save her daughters from the horror of female genital mutilation(FGM) to which she herself had been subjected. Her journey takes her from the small village of Achi to the teeming streets of New York City. It is a chronicle of courage, will, and determination.
